Noodle 5: Round 2

I adapted this recipe:  https://about.kaiserpermanente.org/total-health/food-for-health/recipes/longevity-noodles-with-tofu-and-edamame Ingredients: 1 block firm tofu Canola oil Sesame oil 2 Tbsp vegetarian oyster sauce Powdered ginger 2 cloves garlic, minced Crushed red pepper flakes 1 tsp sugar 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce 1 cup frozen shelled edamame, defrosted Roughly followed the directions on the recipe site with above ingredients. The noodles I used were the Qiao We Birthday Noodles. I used four bundles of noodles, approximately half of a pound. Previous recipe with these noodles can be found here . These were the best noodles yet. I halved the noodle amount from the recipe, but kept all of the other amounts the same. I think that was the right move to have filling portions of tofu and edamame with each serving. Additionally, I cooked the sauce into the noodles at the end instead of drizzling it on like the recipe suggests. 4 bundles of noodles yielded 4 meals. I ate

Noodle 8: Shirakiku Buckwheat Noodle

Type: dried Size: 28.21 oz. Price: $4.89 Price per oz.: $0.17 Sauce: Shirakiku straight soba soup base There isn't much to say. Very easy to make and very yummy. Not very filling, so this isn't a whole meal. The package has 8 portions, so I'll be eating these for a while! I'll update if I decide to get creative with them. Basic cold soba is one of my favorite noodles, so I'm very happy with them as they are.

Noodle 7: Mizuho Stir Fry Noodles

Type: fresh Size: 35.2 oz. Price: $5.48 sale (regular price: $5.99) Price per oz.: $0.16 (regular price: $0.17) Sauce: 1 cup soy sauce 1/2 cup rice wine 1/4 cup (approx) brown sugar Vegetables: 4 heads baby bok choy 1 can baby corn 1 head broccoli This was unfortunately a miss. I used my go-to sauce proportions, but these noodles were just not very good. The instructions said to put them in boiling water for 5 minutes. Even with stirring, the bunches of noodles totally clumped together. When I added them to the vegetables and sauce, the sauce couldn't even get to some of the noodles. They are very starchy and heavy. The leftovers are almost inedible. Sadly these were also the first noodles I fed to house guests. This brand had many noodles to choose from. I'm willing to give them another chance with a different type of noodle. But I will definitely not be repurchasing these. At least they look really good in pictures.
